Picture of our alpacas
UDF was established at the beginning of 2008. A lot of work had to be done to prepare
the barn and pastures for the alpacas arrival. But, it was all worth it the day they
arrived. I'll never forget walking into the barn the first morning to do chores.
The barn smelled like alpaca (a sweet smell) and was full of life. Their humming
was the second thing I noticed (after I noticed the change in the smell). I LOVE their humming.
It is now a year later and I am still as happy to go out to the barn to do chores. But now, I've also added working with their fiber to my list of activities. This past week I received a 40" wet felting machine and have been busy making felt ever since. It is definitely a learning curve, but it's exciting. This year I hope to fence in another third of the pasture for the fiber herd.
