40" Wet Felting Machine
Wet Felting
Urban Dreams Farm has a 40" wet felting machine that can be used to make felt from your fiber. It can be made in a variety of thick- nesses for a variety of uses; from use in craft projects to clothing and rugs. This is a great way to use your 2nd's and 3rd's. Pricing and Terms
We are new to this process, so we are keeping our prices low as we learn. We are charging $4/ounce to make felt from batting that is provided. We charge $10/ounce for felt made from our fiber. This pricing scheme is extremely reasonable and will change once we can say that we are fully experienced, so take advantage now to get your fleece felted.
Additional Wet Felting Details
Wet felting is the process of using water, heat, a change in Ph, and agitation to cause the fibers to become permanently attached to each other in such a way that they form a fabric. The process takes time and depends on many factors. Some of the factors can be controlled by an experienced fiber artist (like the change in Ph and amount of agitation applied). Also, the size or amount of fiber being felted will cause the processing time to change. An approximately 2' * 3' piece takes about 3-4 hours to finish.
We will discuss any and all comments and questions with you. Since we are learning, we still don't know the questions that one would ask.

Fiber (sold by the ounce)
We have 41 alpacas on the farm and, therefore, we have a wide variety of colors to choose from. We have both suri and huacaya alpacas too. We will post an updated list of fiber choices once the alpacas are shorn -- around the end of May. Generally speaking we sell our raw, unwashed, un-skirted fiber for $2/ounce, but reserve the right to charge more for our higher quality fleece.
Additionally, we have a mini or personal mill on the premises and will do small, personal jobs. We recently added a Pat Green Supercarder that we absolutely love to work with.Agisting/Boarding
We offer agisting to anyone needing temporary or permanent boarding for their alpaca. We work full-time on the farm and are mainly focused on herd management and fiber processing. Please contact us for information and details.
